The “Remarkable Garden” label for the Jardins du Puygirault

We are happy and proud to inform you of the decision of the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Prefect of the Pays de la Loire Region on August 28, 2023 to award the Jardins du Puygirault the Label "Remarkable Garden" awarded by the Ministry of Culture.

This label is a sign of recognition of the historical and environmental heritage represented by the Jardins du Puygirault in Saumur.

The commission appreciated “the daily management of these gardens, respectful of the environment, as well as the maintenance of the gardens” and underlined “the innovative character which emerges from these gardens and the balance which reigns there”.

Located in Saumur, Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Florent, route de Gennes, the Puygirault estate has more than 500 years of history of plant biodiversity.

This distinction highlights the exceptional traits which give this Saumur domain its unique and lively character all year round. The discovery trail blends harmoniously into the natural setting of the place, retracing the timeless history of plants and men through ages and horizons.

This new Puygirault “Remarkable Garden” label is the fruition of the efforts carried out by the Saumur TrogloNature team to restore the site to its vocation and vegetable gardening dimension.

In 2, the Puygirault estate was also awarded the first private French label from the “Heritage Foundation”.
